Distributed Distribution Sketching

Ages ago, I published a one-off paper on ad-hoc in-network aggregation.  With the growth of smartphones and other forms of connectivity, interest in this began to peter out a bit, since everything could be done in a centralized way.  More recently however, concerns about privacy have renewed interest in peer-to-peer systems.  For example, peer-to-peer machine learning can be used for grassroots advertising, social networking, and other useful functionality without involving a centralized authority.  This project idea would involve generalizing the proposed gossip protocols to some sort of machine learning or graphical modeling.
